§
Lords Amendment: No. 53, in page 96, line 15, after "undertaking" insert:
which is carried on for gain or reward or which is an undertaking".
§ Mr. EmeryI beg to move, That this House doth agree with the Lords in the said amendment.
This amendment stems from a suggestion made by the Law Society to my right hon. and learned Friend. The Law Society suggested that the definition of "business" in this clause might be regarded as excluding certain undertakings which should be covered.
"Consumer" is defined as a person to whom goods are supplied in the course of business in order to exclude private undertakings. "Business" is defined at present as including undertakings
in the course of which goods or services are supplied otherwise than free of charge".The amendment adds a reference to undertakingscarried on for gain or reward".
