HC Deb 02 April 1973 vol 854 c24
20. Mr. Clinton Davis

asked the Lord President of the Council if he will seek to provide a specific time for Oral Questions on London.

The Lord President of the Council and Leader of the House of Commons (Mr. James Prior)

I am always willing to consider suggested changes to the Question roster, but I think that alterations such as this should first be examined by the Select Committee on Procedure.

Mr. Davis

Will the right hon. Gentleman give his blessing to the consideration by the Select Committee of this proposal? Is he aware that it is completely incongruous that London, with a population greater than Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, has no special day allocated for questioning?

Mr. Prior

I do not think it necessary for me to give my blessing to this proposal. Once we start on this path we shall be on dangerous ground.

Mr. Ridley

Will my right hon. Friend consider allotting a special time for Oral Questions on Cirencester and Tewkesbury?

Mr. Prior

My hon. Friend has made the point.
