HC Deb 08 November 1972 vol 845 c993
28. Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a study, in the light of Dr. David Train's lecture to the Pharmaceutical Society Conference at Keele on 4th September, a copy of which is in his possession, of the problem of the disposal down sinks and lavatories of man-made substances such as paint stripper and brush-cleaning fluids; and whether it is possible to take any useful action.

Mr. Eyre

My right hon. Friend has directed the Department's informal working group on awkward household wastes to consider the problem of disposal of these substances after domestic use.

Mr. Dalyell

When is this working group, which is considering a number of matters, going to report?

Mr. Eyre

It is expected that this group, which is chaired by my Department and which includes representatives from professional bodies and other Government Departments, will have completed its task within the first half of 1973.
