§ 32. Mr. Clinton Davisasked the Attorney-General what further steps he is now taking to reduce administrative delays at the Royal Courts of Justice.
§ The Attorney-GeneralArrangements have been made for the provision of additional typists for Chancery work, and for an immediate study of the services provided to departments of the Supreme Court by the Scrivenery Department.
§ Mr. DavisI thank the Attorney-General for that reply, but is he aware that a reply which he gave me recently concerning delays in the Chancery Division is hopelessly inaccurate? It takes many weeks for orders to be drawn up in that division at the moment. What hope does he have of reducing the delay by the number of additional typing staff that are to be employed?
§ The Attorney-GeneralI am sorry about the reply which was given to the hon. Gentleman which he says was inaccurate. It set out the normal time taken but there are bound to be exceptions. If he will give me examples I will see that they are looked into. One of the problems has arisen over the temporary removal during renovations to the east wing. There is a study at the moment and additional typists are being provided for the Chancery Master.
