§ Motion made, and Question proposed, That this House do now adjourn.—[Mr. Clegg.]
§ 4.7 p.m.
§ Mr. Gerald Kaufman (Manchester, Ardwick)On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker. I do not want to interfere with the Adjournment debate to be initiated by the hon. Member for Ipswich (Mr. Money), but I should like to ask your guidance. There were on the Order Paper today 32 Bills, to most of which had been added Motions opposing a formal Third Reading. Do I understand correctly that without hon. Members being present to object to those Bills, those Motions have no practical significance? If so, is it not a gross waste of public money that on eight pages of the Order Paper there should be printed those nonsensical Motions?
§ Mr. Deputy Speaker (Miss Harvie Anderson)That is not a point of order.
§ Mr. William Molloy (Ealing, North)Further to that point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker. May I ask your guidance on the parrot-like shouting of the paid Whip, objecting to some of the Bills, and in particular the Passenger Fares (London) Bill? Could not this constitute a form of discrimination by the Government, and by the hon. Member who has been shouting "Object ", against Londoners, who are very much in support of the Bill and want the Measure examined?
§ Mr. Deputy SpeakerThat is not a point of order.
