HC Deb 01 May 1972 vol 836 c6
6. Mr. Nicholas Edwards

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what representations he has received from representatives of the Welsh tourist industry about regulations under the Fire Precautions Act, 1971; and what reply he has sent.

The Minister of State, Welsh Office (Mr. David Gibson-Watt)

I have received one letter on behalf of Llandudno hoteliers. This matter is the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Home Secretary, and the letter has been passed to him for reply.

Mr. Edwards

Is my hon. Friend aware that there is a good deal of anxiety in Welsh holiday resorts and that these fears would be much alleviated if more time were allowed for applications and if the industry were treated as an industry qualifying for free depreciation? Will he please make these points to his colleagues in the Home Office and the Treasury?

Mr. Gibson-Watt

I note what my hon. Friend says, and I am more than prepared to pass on his comments to my right hon. Friends.
