§ 22. Mr. Knoxasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs when Her Majesty's Government intend to answer the United Nations Secretary-General's request for their views on the United Nations Charter review; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. GodberAs I told the House on 13th December, the Secretary-General has invited us to reply before 1st July. It is our intention to do so.—[Vol. 828, c. 1.]
§ Mr. KnoxDo Her Majesty's Government intend to consult the United States Government about this matter, including the recent Senate resolution?
§ Mr. GodberWe are always in close consultation with the United States Government on matters affecting the United Nations. I presume that my hon. Friend is referring to a draft resolution, which has not yet been discussed by Congress. Obviously we will have this in mind. But it is the generality of the problem which we have been discussing so far with our colleagues in the United States.
