asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps he has now taken to initiate political, industrial and cultural exchanges between Great Britain and the People's Republic of China.

Visits by trade missions are taking place in both directions and more are planned. A British Industrial Technology Exhibition will be held in Peking in March, 1973. A Great Britain—China Committee has recently been established to promote contacts of all kinds between Britain and China. The President is Mr. Malcolm MacDonald, the Vice-President Lord Trevelyan and the Chairman Sir Harold Thompson; committee members include the right hon. Gentlemen the Members for Ashford (Mr. Deedes), Fulham (Mr. Michael Stewart) and Devon, North (Mr. Thorpe), and Sir John Keswick.
