4. Sir A. Myerasked the Secretary of State for Wales what plans his Department has for the use of Kinmel Camp when the Ministry of Defence ceases its activities there.
§ The Secretary of State for Wales (Mr. Peter Thomas)I understand that no final decision has been taken to close the camp.
§ Sir A. MeyerWill my right hon. and learned Friend bear in mind that this camp provides employment for a great many civilians locally? It is extremely well-equipped. If the Ministry of Defence decides that it does not want it, it could serve either for retraining purposes or in connection with the raising of the school leaving age.
§ Mr. ThomasAs I said to my hon. Friend, no final decision has been taken. The matter is under review. If a decision is taken to close the camp, it will be offered for other purposes.
