HC Deb 19 June 1972 vol 839 cc8-9
11. Mr. Roderick

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what plans he has for official meetings with Members of Parliament representing Welsh constituencies.

Mr. Peter Thomas

I have no specific plans. As the hon. Member will know, it gives me the greatest pleasure to meet Welsh Members and I am always willing to arrange meetings when requested.

Mr. Roderick

Following the example set by the Minister for Industry in arranging a meeting with his parliamentary colleagues, may I ask the right hon. and learned Gentleman to do likewise, because I understand from the reports in the Western Mail on 9th June that some profitable decisions could arise from the meeting which the Minister for Industry held with his colleagues? If this is the way in which we are to have profitable decisions for Wales, will the Secretary of State take such initiatives?

Mr. Thomas

I am very happy to consider any suggestions for a meeting which may be put to me by my colleagues on both sides of the House. As I said, I am always willing to meet hon. and right hon. Gentlemen whenever they request such a meeting.
