ALTERATION OF LOCAL BOUNDARIES CONSEQUENT ON ALTERATION OF WATER COURSE

I beg to move Amendment No. 552, in page 48, line 24, leave out subsection (4).

The effect of this Amendment would be to discontinue the Secretary of State's power to recover his expenses on action taken to amend boundaries as a result of an alteration of watercourses. My right hon. Friend has no wish to be so ungenerous, mean, greedy, grabbing, as the law permits him to be, and so we are to abolish that right.
