§ Mr. EllisIs the Secretary of State aware that during the last election I was assuring the electorate of Wrexham, with good reason and with some pride, that Wrexham, which is in the Welsh development area, was rapidly reaching a state of economic self-sufficiency; but that now, for no good reason except the policies of the Government, I am obliged to tell my constituents that the position at Wrexham is bleaker than it has been for many years? When does he expect the steps to which he has referred to take effect?
§ Mr. ThomasAs the hon. Gentleman knows, since June, 1970, industrial building amounting to 700,000 square feet has been approved in the Wrexham area. I well appreciate the anxieties in the area when the 400 redundancies were declared, but I am happy to say that other firms in the area are now recruiting labour.
