HC Deb 26 January 1972 vol 829 c1575

12.25 a.m.

The Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs (Mr. Anthony Kershaw)

I beg to move, That the Inter-Governmental Maritime Consultative Organisation (Immunities and Privileges) (Amendment) Order 1971, a draft of which was laid before this House on 16th December, be approved. This order seeks to give relief from vehicle excise duty to some officials of the Inter-Governmental Maritime Consultative Organisation, which has a headquarters in London. This relief has hitherto been given by administrative action, but it is undesirable that it should permanently be done in that way. It is therefore desired to do the same thing under Statutory authority. That is the sole purpose of the order. I hope that the House will approve it.

Question put and agreed to.
