HC Deb 24 January 1972 vol 829 c955
19. Mr. Bryant Godman Irvine

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what progress is being made with the new hospital at Vila in the New Hebrides.

Mr. Kershaw

Consulting architects recently completed the plans for this hospital and tenders are being called for, closing on 29th February.

Mr. Godman Irvine

Is my hon. Friend aware that of all hospitals in the Commonwealth, this one is most in need of replacement? Unless my hon. Friend has other information, will he see that this is given top priority?

Mr. Kershaw

Yes, Sir. I saw the hospital a few days ago and I agree it is not up to par. I should like to take this opportunity of paying tribute to the staff for the fine work they do in unsuitable conditions.
