HC Deb 19 January 1972 vol 829 cc440-1
11. Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications if he will issue a general direction to the Post Office to publicise all the facilities which it provides for accepting bankers orders.

Mr. Chataway

No, Sir. This is a commercial matter for the Post Office.

Mr. Carter-Jones

is the Minister aware that vast sums of public money—worth-while expenditure—have been put into Giro? Is he also aware that the joint stock bank branches say openly to customers that this existing facility does not exist, and will he please do something about it?

Mr. Chataway

I am not aware of that but I am sure that the Post Office will take note of what the hon. Gentleman has said.
