§ 1. Mr. Luceasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has now studied the illustration on a recently marketed detergent, details of which have been supplied to him, in view of the danger it presents to children; and what action he will take.
§ The Minister of State, Home Office (Mr. Richard Sharples)The manufacturers have modified the label. I see no need for further action.
§ Mr. LuceDoes my hon. Friend agree that although this dish-washing liquid is thought to be only slightly toxic it is still dangerous for children to drink it and that, in view of this, although the manufacturers have added the words "For washing up" on the front of the container, the illustration of the lemon constitutes a danger to small children? Will he therefore reconsider this and take appropriate action?
§ Mr. SharplesThe manufacturers have been co-operative about this. I understand that on the more recent containers 1466 the illustration of the lemon is almost obliterated by the words "2½p off".
