§ Lords Amendment: No. 14, in page 85, line 11, at end insert:
14 Geo. 6. C. 39. | The Public Utilities Street Works Act 1950. | In Schedule 5, the entries relating to the Gas Act 1948. |
§ Mr. EmeryI beg to move, That this House doth agree with the Lords in the said Amendment.
I suggest that we discuss at the same time Lords Amendments Nos. 15 to 17.
Before explaining briefly the purpose of the Amendments, may I again, as I did on Third Reading and in Committee, 1098 thank my hon. Friends and hon. Members opposite for the very thorough manner in which the Bill has been gone through and improved because of our deliberations. I pay tribute particularly to the hon. Members for Chesterfield (Mr. Varley) and for Bristol, Central (Mr. Palmer), who have played a leading part from the Opposition Front Bench in the passage of the Bill.
These Amendments, as is obvious from the face of them, tidy up the references to gas in previous legislation. This makes it slightly easier for anybody who is trying to consult that legislation.
§ Question put and agreed to.
§ Subsequent Lords Amendments agreed to.
