HC Deb 26 April 1972 vol 835 cc1526-9
17. Mr. Costain

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will list the local planning authorities which have so far been asked to submit structure plans for his approval, following a commencement order under the Town and Country Planning Act, 1968; and which have actually done so.

Mr. Peter Walker

One hundred and five of the 126 local planning authorities in England and outside London have been invited to prepare or discuss arrangements for preparing structure plans for all or part of their area. As the list is long I will, with permission, circulate it in the OFFICIAL REPORT.

Mr. Costain

Is my right hon. Friend satisfied that the result will be to make more land available for residential purposes?

Following is the information:

LIST OF LOCAL PLANNING AUTHORITIES IN ENGLAND (EXCLUDING LONDON) WHO HAVE BEEN INVITED TO PREPARE STRUCTURE PLANS FOR THE WHOLE OR PART OF THEIR AREA
The list indicates the three groups of authorities for which commencement orders have been made. Other orders will be made when the Town and Country Planning (Amendment) Bill is enacted. No structure plans have yet been submitted.
