§ Question put and agreed to.
That the remainder of the Bill be committed to a Standing Committee:
That, when the provisions of the Bill considered, respectively, by the Committee of the whole House and by the Standing Committee have been reported to the House, the Bill be proceeded with as if the Bill has been reported as a whole to the House from the Standing Committee.—[Mr. Barber.]
§ 10.15 p.m.
§ Dame Irene Ward (Tynemouth)
May I ask my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer what will happen 892 to the new Clauses? Will they be taken on the Floor of the House or will they go to the Standing Committee? I am interested in a lot of the new Clauses but I do not want to go upstairs. I should like to talk on a number of them, but they do not appear to be mentioned in the Motion. If I can be told what will happen to them I will be satisfied to agree to the Motion.
§ Mr. Barber
The new Clauses will be taken in Committee upstairs, but they will be taken in this Chamber on Report as well. So they will be considered upstairs and downstairs—[Laughter.] If my hon. Friend the Member for Tynemouth (Dame Irene Ward) has any further problems, I shall be happy at any time to take her upstairs.
§ Dame Irene Ward
Will the same new Clauses be taken downstairs and upstairs, or will the Clauses be different? A lot depends on this.
§ Mr. Speaker
This is not a matter for the Chancellor. Selection of new Clauses on Report will be a matter for me.
§ Committee tomorrow.
