HC Deb 12 April 1972 vol 834 c1258
32. Sir G. Nabarro

asked the Minister of State for Defence what changes in accommodation he contemplates, giving the numbers and future employment, for scientific grades of the Civil Service at the Royal Radar Establishment at Malvern, Worcestershire.

The Under-Secretary of State for Defence for the Royal Air Force (Lord Lambton)

No changes are planned at present.

Sir G. Nabarro

Will my noble Friend bear in mind that in Malvern we have the greatest concentration of scientific civil servants in Britain, that 233 houses are owned by the Ministry of Defence and that the great majority of those civil servant tenants wish to buy their own houses from the Government? Since it is Government policy to sell council houses, should it not also be Government policy to sell houses to sitting tenants, especially when they are senior civil servants?

Lord Lambton

We will certainly look at this matter. But it is not strictly the Question on the Order Paper.
