§ 1. Mr. Tilneyasked the Secretary of State for Wales whether he has now come to a decision about the multi-purpose Dee crossing; and if he will make a statement.
§ The Secretary of State for Wales (Mr. Peter Thomas)Consultations with the local planning authorities and other bodies concerned are going ahead, but it is too early to say when a decision will be reached.
§ Mr. TilneyIs it not time that the Government made up their minds about a scheme which is likely to pay for itself, which has been discussed for 20 years, and which will bring amenity and work to an area badly needing both?
§ Mr. Peter ThomasI am fully aware of my hon. Friend's interest in this matter and I am most grateful to him for it, but it is a matter of importance not only for Deeside but a much wider area, and it is essential that we take the right decision. It is important that we should not only consult but co-ordinate the views of the various interests concerned, and that is what we are now doing.
