HC Deb 25 November 1971 vol 826 cc1530-1
Q3. Mr. Kauffman

asked the Prime Minister if he will seek to make an early official visit to Norway.

The Prime Minister

I have at present no plans to do so.

Mr. Kaufman

When the right hon. Gentleman next meets the Norwegian Prime Minister, will he say that the present Government, instead of continuing tamely to accept the common agricultural policy of the E.E.C., will join with the Norwegian Government in the stand made by their Minister of Agriculture in Brussels in rejecting the C.A.P. and demanding lasting exemptions from it?

The Prime Minister

The British negotiations have been completed in Brussels, with the major exceptions of fisheries and one or two minor issues. The Norwegian Government are carrying on their own negotiations and have always accepted responsibility for them, as has every other Member of E.F.T.A. We have kept in the closest possible touch with them and the E.F.T.A. Governments have expressed their appreciation. It is not for us to advise the Norwegian Government on how to deal with their own individual aspects of the negotiations.
