§ Mr. McCrindleI thank my hon. Friend for that reply. The indications are that considerable progress has been made in this respect. I suggest that it would be advantageous to draw to the attention of local authorities the considerable powers that exist under Section 75 of the 1969 Act and that, particularly in general improvement areas, greater impetus be given by the Government to local authorities to take these steps.
§ Mr. ChannonI note what my hon. Friend says and agree with him. Two hundred and thirty-six general improvement areas have now been declared. In the past 10 months, 123 have been 1317 declared, compared with 113 in the previous 14 months.
