HC Deb 22 November 1971 vol 826 cc1085-6

10.0 p.m.

The Lord President of the Council and Leader of the House of Commons (Mr. William Whitelaw)

With permission, Mr. Speaker, I should like to make a short business statement.

Following discussions through the usual channels, a two-day debate on Northern Ireland has been arranged for Thursday, 25th November, and Monday, 29th November, which will be the 3rd allotted Supply Day.

As the House will realise, this rearrangement will make it necessary to defer the Second Reading of the Housing (Financial Provisions) (Scotland) Bill and the debate on the Public Accounts Committee Reports. I hope to include them in my next business statement.

Mr. Robert Mellish (Bermondsey)

I wish to put on record the Opposition's appreciation of the way in which the Government have so courteously and efficiently received our representations and to assure the Leader of the House that we will do our very best to co-operate with him over next week's business.

Mr. Victor Goodhew (Lord Commissioner of the Treasury)

I beg to ask leave to withdraw the Motion.

Motion, by leave, withdrawn.
