HC Deb 11 May 1971 vol 817 cc205-6
Mr. Harold Wilson

On a point of order. Your predecessor has accepted this as a point of order in similar circumstances, Mr. Speaker.

May I ask the Prime Minister or the Leader of the House, if not now then at any rate in connection with this week's business, to make a statement following the decision of the House yesterday in relation to the prices of food and related subjects and the acceptance by the Government of the need to reconstitute some watchdog over rising prices? May we have an assurance that either of the right hon. Gentlemen will tell us, either today or tomorrow, when a statement will be made giving the Government's intentions in order to carry out the Motion which hon. Gentlemen opposite yesterday accepted unanimously?

Hon. Members

Answer.

Mr. Speaker

Order. Whatever my predecessor may or may not have ruled, in my view that is not a point of order, though it is a point which can be made and which, no doubt, will have been noted.
