§ 21. Mr. Barnesasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what consideration he has given to the application to him by the Greater London Council to reduce the number of fire appliances at Chiswick Fire Station to one.
§ Mr. SharplesMy right hon. Friend is awaiting further information from the Council before reaching a decision on its application to reduce the establishment of the brigade by a reduction in the number of men and appliances at certain fire stations, including Chiswick.
§ Mr. BarnesIs the Minister aware that there is great concern in Chiswick about the proposal to reduce the number of fire appliances to one? Many people who have lived in the area all their lives do not accept that the area could be as well served by help from neighbouring stations. Will the Minister assure me that he will give the fullest weight to the many representations which have been made to him on this subject?
§ Mr. SharplesCertainly; but I think that we should await the further information for which we have asked.
