HC Deb 17 March 1971 vol 813 cc1408-9
30. Mr. McElhone

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list in the OFFICIAL REPORT the appointments to boards, councils, committees, etc., under his jurisdiction.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

The full information is not at present easily available in a comprehensive form. If the hon. Member has some particular point in mind, I will be happy to try to assist him.

Mr. McElhone

Would the Secretary of State give an assurance that when he makes reappointments he will appoint a disabled person to the Social Advisory Committee and any other committees concerned with chronically sick and disabled persons?

Mr. Campbell

As I think the hon. Gentleman knows, this is a matter with which I am particularly concerned. The answer is "Yes". The question of the degree of disability must, of course, be considered in relation to requirements and the nature of the job.
