asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what expansion he envisages in Scottish agricultural production in the coming year.

Mr. Buchanan-Smith

It is the Government's aim to help agriculture to expand efficiently and competitively.

Mr. Brewis

But has not milk production in Scotland been declining over recent years? Is not that likely to have a very adverse effect on efficiency and employment in creameries and other ancillary industries?

Mr. Buchanan-Smith

My hon. Friend has highlighted one particular problem. I ask him to await the statement later this afternoon by my right hon. Friend the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
