HC Deb 16 March 1971 vol 813 c1168
7. Mr. William Price

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will appoint the hon. Member for Rugby to the Birmingham Regional Hospital Board in place of Mrs. Theresa Stewart.

Sir K. Joseph

The vacancy has already been filled.

Mr. Price

The right hon. Gentleman's answer neither surprises nor offends me. Is he aware that the only people who are welcome on the Birmingham Regional Hospital Board are those who keep their mouths shut and cause no trouble, and that there is a widespread belief in the Midlands that Mrs. Theresa Stewart was sacked because she did her job too well?

Sir K. Joseph

The hon. Gentleman, for all his charm, will not persuade me to enter into the merits of any particular case.
