HC Deb 10 March 1971 vol 813 cc488-9
Mr. Michael Heseltine

I beg to move Amendment No. 17, in page 22, line 9, at end insert: 'and at the end of that subsection there shall be added the words "or for maintaining or altering structures or other works situated therein".' This Amendment follows an undertaking given by the Minister regarding the use by local authorities of vehicles and appliances for improving footpaths and bridleways. The purpose is to extend Section 94(1) of the Public Health Act to allow local authorities to use vehicles on footways and bridleways for the purpose of maintaining or altering structures. This, also, is not a controversial matter, and I hope that the House will accept the Amendment.

Amendment agreed to.
