§ Mr. Michael Heseltine
I beg to move Amendment No. 34, in page 31, line 7, 493 leave out 'a court of quarter sessions' and insert 'the Crown Court'.
§ Mr. Heseltine
These Amendments simply anticipate the passing of the Courts Bill now before Parliament. They replace the wording in that Bill which refers to a court of quarter sessions with the new concept as contained in the Courts Bill of a Crown court. Amendment 35 merely deals with the intervening situation between the present day and the coming into being of the Courts Bill.
§ Amendment agreed to.
Further Amendment made: No. 35, in page 32, line 20 at end insert:
(15) Before the coming into force of section 3 of the Courts Act, 1971 subsection (6) above shall have effect as if for the reference to the Crown Court there were substituted a reference to a court of quarter sessions.—[Mr. Michael Heseltine.]
