HC Deb 10 March 1971 vol 813 c498
Mr. Graham Page

I beg to move Amendment No. 58, in page 40, line 8, leave out 'in the authority's opinion'. With this Amendment I suggest we also discuss Amendment No. 59.

In Committee, the right hon. Member for Sheffield, Park (Mr. Mulley) moved an Amendment which removed the words "in the authority's opinion" from one part of Clause 37. We have observed that these words appear in other parts of Clause 37, and this Amendment and Amendment No. 59 remove them altogether.

Amendment agreed to.

Further Amendments made: No. 59, in page 40, line 24, leave out 'in the authority's opinion'.

No. 60, in line 26, at end insert: (2A) A highway authority, being the Secretary of State, may acquire land which is required for the purpose of—

  1. (a) providing a trunk road picnic area; or
  2. (b) providing public sanitary conveniences in the exercise of his powers under section (Provision of picnic sites and public conveniences for users of trunk roads) (5) of this Act.—[Mr. Graham Page.]
