HC Deb 08 March 1971 vol 813 cc173-8

Queen's Recommendation having been signified

Motion made, and Question put, That, for the purposes of any Act of the present Session to amend and replace the present immigration laws, to make certain related changes in the citizenship law and to enable help to be given to those wishing to return abroad, it is expedient to authorise the payment out of moneys provided by Parliament of any expenses incurred by a Secretary of State under or by virtue of that Act (a) by way of administrative expenses (including any additional expenses under the British Nationality Acts 1948 to 1965 which are attributable to changes in the citizen ship law);

(b) in connection with the removal from the United Kingdom of persons not permitted to enter or remain or ordered to be deported, or the departure with such persons of their dependants and the maintenance of such persons and their dependants pending departure;

(c) in connection with the continuance for the purpose of appeals under the Act, of the Immigration Appeal Tribunal and adjudicators provided for by the Immigration Appeals Act 1969;

(d) in making grants to voluntary organisations helping persons who are by the Act given rights of appeal to the Tribunal or an adjudicator;

(e) in making payments to or for the benefit, of persons subject to the control on immigration in order to meet or provide for their expenses in leaving the United Kingdom to live permanently abroad, including travelling expenses for members of their families or households.—[Mr. Patrick Jenkin.]:—
