§ Mr. NobleI beg to move Amendment No. 13, in page 10, line 2, after 'Treasury', insert:
'and after consultation with the Authority',Hon Members opposite originally sought to insert a statutory obligation to consult the Authority. They sought to do so in Clause 6(3), which deals with the question of establishment, manage- 238 ment and application of the Authority's reserves. I had to resist that because of the implications for similar provisions in other Statutes. I recognise, however, that the Bill rightly provides for such consultation in Clause 52, which deals also with specific application of the reserves to the British Airways Board group, and it would be consistent, therefore, to insert a statutory requirement for consultation with the Authority in Clause 11(2), which deals with a very similar application of reserves.
§ Mr. JohnI thank the right hon. Gentleman for the Amendment. We particularly pressed for this provision in Commitee and I am glad that he has seen fit to accede to our request. It seems to us important that the Authority should be consulted on these matters and we feel that this will be a better Bill for the Amendment.
§ Amendment agreed to.
