§ Bill, as amended (in the Standing Committee), further considered.
§ Mr. CarlisleI beg to move, That further consideration of the Bill, as amended, be adjourned.
§ Mr. AshtonOn a point of order. There is one question which occupied the time of the House for about half an hour at tea-time which some of us think should be mentioned, Mr. Speaker. It concerns the sample of the State pro- 1552 perty delivered to the House for consideration by hon. Members; namely, two barrels of State beer to enable hon. Members taking part in the debate to make a proper assessment of the values of the subject-matter of our discussions. We understand that the barrels have been embargoed by the Chairman of the Catering Committee for some reason and are not on display or available to hon. Members. May we ask you, Mr. Speaker, to make a decision on this matter before we resume the debate tomorrow?
§ Mr. SpeakerI am seized of the point. I am not sure whether Standing Orders bear upon it or whether the Speaker has any personal power to impound barrels. I will consider the matter.
§ Question put and agreed to.
§ Bill, as amended in the Standing Committee, to be further considered tomorrow.
