HC Deb 17 February 1971 vol 811 cc1812-3
6. Mr. Leslie Huckfield

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he is now able to make a further statement about grants to Southern Region railways services not extensively used by London commuters, as a result of his general review.

Mr. Peyton

I have nothing to add to the answer I gave to my hon Friend the Member for Sheffield, Hallam (Mr. J. H. Osborn) and to what I told the hon. Member on 14th January.—[Vol. 809, c. 111–7.]

Mr. Huckfield

Is not the right hon. Gentleman aware that there is a great deal of uncertainty about some of the other peripheral Southern Region services, because so far he has referred only to the services which are considered to be London commuter services? When will he be in a position to tell the House something more definite about the rest of the Southern Region?

Mr. Peyton

As soon as I have completed the review, which is quite a long and complicated question.
