§ 9. Mr. Iremongerasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what action 1443 is being taken to improve conditions in the casualty department of the King George Hospital, Ilford.
§ Mr. AlisonAn improvement scheme is planned by the North-East Metropolitan Regional Hospital Board to start in the financial year 1971–72.
§ Mr. IremongerAs the load on this department is infinitely greater in proportion than the amount of resources which have been given to it within the area, could not some action be taken to increase the scope of the proposed improvements?
§ Mr. AlisonThe proposed improvement will cost a substantial sum—in fact, £60,000. My hon. Friend knows that there are new accident and emergency departments provided in two places nearby which between them should account for the likely need.
