§ Q2. Mr. Joel Barnett
§ The Prime MinisterYes, Sir: and in particular that part which read:
A vote for the Socialists now would mean S.E.T. back again—the reductions in taxation cancelled—the Industrial Relations Bill taken off the Statute Book and Mr. Wilson on our backs again as Prime Minister. Let us banish such nightmares and get on with the business of restoring the nation's fortunes.
§ Mr. BarnettIs the Prime Minister aware that economic experts other than the Foreign Secretary are unable to interpret the Government's changes in policy quite so easily? For example, do the Government intend to pursue a prices and incomes policy to sustain the 3 to 3½ per cent. growth in the March Budget or the 4 to 4½ per cent. growth planned in the July mini-Budget?
§ The Prime MinisterThe C.B.I, has taken its own initiative on prices, and any initiative which the T.U.C. may take in response to that will be warmly welcomed.
