§ 8. Mr. Frank Allaunasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if 7 he is aware that some car insurance companies which have ceased to trade have continued to receive payments under standing bankers' orders, where, through inadvertence, these have not been stopped; and what action he will take by legislation or otherwise to prevent this.
§ Sir J. EdenIf a policyholder inadvertently pays premiums to an insurance company after it has gone into liquidation, he should apply for reimbursement to the liquidator.
§ Mr. AllaunIs the hon. Gentleman aware that the receiver for the Alpha company has gone on accepting such payments for six months? As the Minister has some responsibility in this case, is he not morally and legally bound to see that these repayments are made?
§ Sir J. EdenThe proper course is to make application to the liquidator.
§ Mr. AllaunThat is no answer.
§ Sir J. EdenThen I shall look into the matter to see whether I can help.
