HC Deb 28 October 1970 vol 805 c209
23. Mr. Douglas

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will have a survey undertaken of the present level of traffic using the Kincardine Road Bridge.

Mr. Edward Taylor

A traffic census was carried out at Kincardine Bridge in August as part of the normal arrangements for obtaining information about traffic volumes.

Mr. Douglas

I welcome the Minister's reply, but would he not agree that those figures show an increase in the amount of traffic using this bridge, and that therefore the possibility of re-siting it ought to be considered in view of the economic development of that area?

Mr. Taylor

We considered the results of this census, and from all the evidence that I have received I am satisfied that this bridge will be adequate until at least the mid-80's.
