HC Deb 10 November 1970 vol 806 c185
18. Mr. John Hall

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will undertake research on the economic construction of hospitals designed for a limited life span and capable of being adapted or rebuilt at no great cost to accommodate future technological developments.

Sir K. Joseph

Designs are being developed to enable hospital activities of all kinds to be accommodated in building units of the same basic structure so that the units may be used for different purposes during the life of a hospital. This requires permanent structures. I am also considering extensions of the present uses of short-life building where this is appropriate.
