§ Mr. Peter ThomasThe re-fashioning of housing subsidies will need to be discussed with the local authority associations before the effect on individual 641 authorities can be assessed. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment will shortly make a statement on these matters.
§ Mr. JohnIs not the right hon. and learned Gentleman aware that statements and estimates to this effect were prepared by the last Government? Surely he must have taken such costings into account before the statement last Tuesday was made.
