HC Deb 11 May 1970 vol 801 c928
Mr. Buchan

I beg to move Amendment No. 46, in page 16, line 41, leave out from ' the ' to ' reasonably ' and insert 'effecting of any reconstruction, alteration or improvement '. Perhaps it would be convenient, with this Amendment, to take Amendment No. 47.

Mr. Deputy Speaker

Yes, if the House agrees.

Mr. Buchan

Amendment No. 46, is, again, a drafting Amendment aimed to bring the Clause in line, in this case, with standard condition 10(6). It deletes the words … making of any alterations or improvements …". This is a point that was first raised by the hon. and learned Gentleman and he, too, has put down an Amendment to deal with it. The same point was picked up by the Society of Writers to the Signet. The trouble is that in Committee it was found that the word " reconstruction " had been put in the wrong place. We therefore agreed to table an Amendment. The wording is also quite consistent with standard condition 10(6).

Mr. Wylie

I do not think there is much to choose between Amendment No. 46 and Amendment No. 47. There are fewer words in the Amendment in my name, but perhaps a little explanation is not a bad thing.

Amendment agreed to.
