HC Deb 20 July 1970 vol 804 c33
71. Mr. David Stoddart

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will exempt from the payment of prescription charges the wives of pensioners aged between 60 and 65 years.

Mr. Alison

No, Sir.

Mr. Stoddart

Is the hon. Gentleman aware that this is a most unsatisfactory answer and that a great deal of hardship will be caused to people in this category? Will he reconsider his decision?

Mr. Alison

I am sorry that the hon. Gentleman should consider it an unsatisfactory answer. It is very much in line with the answers recently given to similar Questions by his right hon. Friend the Member for Coventry, East (Mr. Crossman).
