HC Deb 16 July 1970 vol 803 cc1724-5
Q8. Mr. Sillars

asked the Prime Minister if, in view of the United Kingdom's co-chairmanship of the Geneva Agreement, he will hold consultations with the Heads of Government of the United States of America, Australia and New Zealand about seeking a solution to the Vietnam conflict.

The Prime Minister

We are in regular contact with these and other Governments concerned with finding a peaceful solution in Vietnam.

Mr. Sillars

Will the Prime Minister give a short, simple and categorical assurance that no matter what invitations his Government receive, British troops will never at any time be involved in the Vietnam conflict?

The Prime Minister

It has always been our position that we did not believe that British troops should be sent to Vietnam.
