asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity what was the number of persons employed in the jute textile industry in Scotland at the latest date for which figures are available; and what were the corresponding figures for midsummer 1967 and 1964, respectively.

The estimated numbers of those in employment in Scotland in the jute industry at mid-1969, mid-1967 and mid-1964 were 14,800, 14,700 and 16,500, respectively.
