§ 35. Mr. Peter Emeryasked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications what steps are to be taken to improve television reception and increase the number of channels available in the West Country.
§ Mr. ChatawayThe B.B.C. and the I.T.A. expect that transmissions of B.B.C. 1 and B.B.C. 2 and I.T.V. (Westward Television) on U.H.F. with 625-line definition and in colour will start from Stockland Hill towards the end of 1971.
§ Mr. EmeryI thank my right hon. Friend for his reply, which many people will welcome considerably as it is a matter of major importance for the West Country. May I ask him how far it will be possible to receive the colour programme from Stockland Hill in the northern area?
§ Mr. ChatawayI am afraid that I am not able to give that figure, but I know that this change will mean substantial improvements in reception in the West Country.
