HC Deb 22 January 1970 vol 794 cc666-7
3. Mr. Dalyell

asked the Minister of Overseas Development what action she is taking as a result of the Jackson Study.

16. Mr. Hooley

asked the Minister of Overseas Development what evaluation her Department is making of the Jackson Report.

Mrs. Hart

As I said on 2nd December last, the report is being studied in depth. I hope myself to be in the United States and Canada next month, and to discuss the report informally with many of those who will also be concerned in studying its recommendations.—[Vol. 792, c. 219.]

Mr. Dalyell

In the light of such problems as the resettlement of troops of the Federal Army in Nigeria, should not urgent thought be given on a multilateral basis as soon as possible to the creation of a career structure for a United Nations task force in this direction?

Mrs. Hart

This will be the kind of point we shall wish to look at as a result of our discussions on the Jackson Report, which we expect to receive detailed examination at a special meeting of the United Nations Development Programme Governing Council in March.
