HC Deb 19 February 1970 vol 796 c564
3. Mr. Farr

asked the Minister of Overseas Development what part her Department plays in facilitating the work of the Commonwealth Migration Council.

The Minister of Overseas Development (Mrs. Judith Hart)

None, Sir.

Mr. Farr

I am obliged to the right hon. Lady for that reply. Would she agree that this council does a tremendous amount of good work in certain cases and that, wherever possible, its labours in this field should be encouraged?

Mrs. Hart

Indeed, but it is not a question for me. As the hon. Gentleman will know, the council is particularly concerned with increasing the flow of British migrants to Canada, Australia and New Zealand. These are not countries with which we have Ministry of Overseas Development relationships.
