Queen's Recommendation having been signified

Resolved, That, for the purposes of any Act of the present session to make further provision with respect to the welfare of chronically sick and disabled persons, it is expedient to authorise the payment out of moneys provided by Parliament of any increase in the sums payable out of moneys so provided under any other enactment which is attributable to any provision of that Act imposing a duty on a local authority having functions under section 29 of the National Assistance Act 1948 to make arrangements in the exercise of their functions under that section if they are satisfied in the case of any person ordinarily resident in the authority's area who is a person to whom that section applies that it is necessary to make those arrangements in order to meet the needs of that person.—[Mr. Taverne.]
